Surveillance Drone Learns to Spot Fights on the Ground


Researchers in the UK and India are working on a computer vision system for drones that can identify when people are fighting on the ground. The model was trained on images and video of a group of 25 interns pretending to punch and stab each other, with each faux-fighter manually marked afterwards with 18 different body points in about 2,000 images. Sounds like a great way to reduce schoolyard and street fights, but presumably can also be applied in military scenarios, which seems to be the way of much drone surveillance research lately, for better or worse.
