PGA Tour’s New AI to Write Recaps and Curate Tournament Highlight Reels

IBM Watson’s Cognitive Computing division has been getting the lion’s share of attention for its collaborations with tennis and golf tournaments that apply computer vision and AI to match and game footage, but Microsoft is no sports events slouch. Its Azure-based computer vision service has partnered with the PGA Tour to comb through archival and real-time video to create highlight reels and libraries for use on broadcast and social media. What’s more, Narrative Science’s Quill natural-language generation (NLG) platform will auto-generate text recaps for matches and video, adding an extra element of context.
