Augmented reality ads are going big time, or at least big size. Dallas Mavericks fans who aim their smartphones at a giant mural on the side of the YMCA building in downtown Dallas will be treated to an AR version of a giant Dennis Smith, Jr pulling off a slam dunk and landing in the parking lot. Produced by the basketball team along with the GrooveJones AR/VR agency and Facebook’s Spark AR studio, the virtual activation is the largest of its kind on the social media giant’s platform. The interactive experience will be up through December and requires that the Facebook app be installed. If you can’t make it to Dallas, visit the GrooveJones website to try it out at home.
